The Workshops

Workshop #1

Culinary Arts

Discover the chemistry hiding in ice cream โ€” then become the chef, customizing flavors and churning a batch from scratch.

Students start in the lab, measuring and mixing to see how salt, sugar, and fat change how ice cream freezes and feels. Then they take over as chef, churning their own batch to share with the class.

๐Ÿ• 90 minutes of class time / 30 minutes for parent presentations

Workshop #2

Forensic Science

Discover DNA technology, fingerprinting, and crime scene analysis. Then put those skills to the test solving a fictional crime.

Students are sworn in as junior investigators, learning to lift fingerprints and analyze evidence. Then teams apply those skills to a staged classroom "crime," gathering clues to crack the case.

๐Ÿ• 90 minutes of class time / 30 minutes for parent presentations

Workshop #3

Structural Engineering

Learn the principles of structural engineering, then design, build, and test your own bridge against the class's toughest challenge.

Students explore how engineers distribute weight through quick hands-on demos, then sketch and build their own bridge from provided materials. Classmates compete head-to-head to see whose design holds up best.

About Flourish

Flourish is a private K-8 school network that accepts AZ ESA vouchers, making it accessible to all families. Our first Arizona school is in Maricopa, and we're expanding there during the 2026 / 2027 school year, while opening new campuses in the East and West Valley.

Flourish is founded on two principles. First, all academic learning is done one-on-one: we use AI for base instruction across all subjects, and teachers work directly with students who need extra support. This frees up the rest of the school day for building projects around SuperPowers โ€” the skills students need to succeed in the modern world. SuperPowers are grouped into Human skills like Empathy, Character skills like Integrity, Cognitive skills like Curiosity, and Entrepreneurship skills like Agency.

Through the combination of one-on-one learning and developing their SuperPowers through projects, we enable our students to Flourish no matter what the future brings.
